COMMANDER GABRIEL GONZALEZ
Commander Gabriel Gonzalez
My Primary Focus: Patrol and Operations
Gabriel Gonzalez was raised in Salinas, California. After graduating from Everett Alvarez High School, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably for four years.Â
Upon completion of Gonzalez’s military service, he joined the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office and attended the South Bay Regional Training Consortium Police Academy (SB56) in 2002. Following his graduation, he began his law enforcement career as a Deputy at the Monterey County Jail.
In 2005, Gabe lateraled to the Salinas Police Department, where he held various roles, including Patrol Officer, member of the Violence Suppression Unit, Recruit Training Officer, and Detective. He also contributed to several specialized units, including SWAT, the Hostage Negotiation Team (HNT), Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC), and served as a Report Writing Instructor.
In 2020, Gabe was promoted to Sergeant, where he served as a Patrol Supervisor and later as Investigations Sergeant. In 2024, he was promoted to Commander, assuming the responsibilities of Patrol Watch Commander.
Gabe holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from San Jose State University and a Master of Business Administration from Faulkner University. He is a graduate of the Sherman Block Leadership Institute (Class #518) and participated in the National Preparedness Leadership Institute at Harvard University (Cohort XXIII).
