Commander Kimberly Diaz

My Primary Focus: Patrol, FTO Commander

Commander Kimberly (Kim) Diaz is a Salinas native. She graduated the South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium’s (SBRPSTC) basic police academy in 2003. She worked as a Corrections Deputy with the Monterey County Sheriff’s Department for a short time before being hired at the Salinas Police Department, where she has worked for over 20 years.

Commander Diaz received a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from Columbia Southern University and a Master of Business Administration from Faulkner University. As an officer, she spent several years assigned to Patrol, collaterally assigned as a Field Training Officer, and several years assigned to the Investigations Division as a detective.

As a sergeant, she worked Patrol and Personnel and Training. As a Commander, she worked as the Administration Commander and has spent the last four years assigned to Patrol as a Patrol Commander overseeing the Field Training Program.
